
On 19 March 2026, Caroline Savage, Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the Embassy of the United States in Budapest, paid an official visit to the National Széchényi Library. During the meeting, the leadership of the national library presented the institution’s professional activities, its digitalization projects, and some of its most interesting documents related to the United States.
The guests were welcomed by Dávid Rózsa, Director General and Zoltán Lewalt-Jezierski, Head of the Director General’s Cabinet. The delegation accompanying the Chargé d’Affaires also included Jeff Adler, Public Affairs Counsellor at the embassy, and Mónika Váli, Cultural Affairs Specialist.
During the discussions, participants reviewed the National Széchényi Library’s recently completed and planned U.S.-related projects for 2026. The visit continued with a tour of the library building, focusing on documents related to the United States. In the Apponyi Room, Béla Nóvé, a staff member of the OSZK Department of Research and Special Collections, presented a selection of books related to the history of the United States.
At the end of the program, the delegation visited the library’s digitalization centre, where Gábor Klinger, Head of Department, introduced its operation, equipment, and results, and also presented the ongoing work.
