The National Széchényi Library has loaned a number of documents to the Lajos Gulácsy's oeuvre exhibition, which opens on 7 April 2023 at the Hungarian National Gallery.
Manuscripts, drawings, letters, postcards, posters and catalogues from Lajos Gulácsy's bequest (Fond 124) from the Mauniscript Collecton, the Map, Poster and Small Print Collection, and the Theatre and Music Collection are enriching the exhibition.
The exhibition GULÁCSY. The Prince of Na’Conxypan is a large-scale show that provides a more complete picture than ever of the oeuvre of one of the most original Hungarian artists of the turn of the century and early modernism. In several sections, the exhibition presents the diversity of his oeuvre and its links to the art of the past and present, and to his contemporaries.
In addition to the many famous masterpieces, the audience will also be able to see newly identified works by Lajos Gulácsy, as well as works that have never been exhibited before. In addition to paintings, drawings and illustrations, the exhibition is enhanced by Gulácsy manuscripts, photographs of the artist and some of his contemporaries' most characteristic works.
