On 17 December 2025, Hwang Won, Minister-Counsellor and newly appointed diplomat of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Hungary, paid an official visit to the National Széchényi Library. He was received by Dávid Rózsa, Director General of the National Széchényi Library; Zoltán Lewalt-Jezierski, Head of Cabinet; and Zsuzsanna Mikó, Deputy Director General of the Hungarian National Archives.
During the visit, a book donation compiled for Pusan University of Foreign Studies was symbolically presented. The selection, consisting of nearly 100 volumes in Hungarian and English, was drawn from the international exchange holdings of the National Széchényi Library, from collections of partner institutions, and from donations from the Hungarian National Archives and the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music. The book package provides a comprehensive overview of Hungary’s history, literature, art and culture, with a particular focus on general, historically oriented publications.
Minister-Counsellor Hwang Won toured the national library building, its permanent exhibition, and the digitalization centre of the National Széchényi Library, gaining insight into the library’s wide-ranging professional activities.
In addition to the National Széchényi Library, the Bánffy Miklós Special Library of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Hungarian Embassy in the Republic of Korea, the Liszt Institute in Seoul, and Pusan University of Foreign Studies are cooperating in the delivery of the book donation to Korea. The initiative represents an important step towards strengthening further the Hungarian–Korean cultural and academic relations.
