You and your friends are cordially invited to the opening ceremony of the exhibition entitled CHANGING SPACES. The Danube region on historical maps, 1650–1800, to be held in the Ars Librorum exhibition space of National Széchényi Library. The event will start at 4 p.m. on Thursday August 2, 2018.

Comics as Narrative – Finissage

The joint exhibition of National Széchényi Library and the Hungarian Comics Association will be closed on July 26, 2018. At the finissage ceremony, the catalog of the exhibition will be presented and a professional guided tour of the exhibition will also be held.

Longer summer closure due to reconstruction

At the same time with the summer closure beginning on July 16, reconstruction work will be started in NSZL. This is why the summer closure of National Széchényi Library will be longer this year than usual. The Library will be open again on Tuesday September 4, 2018.

Dream painting – Fabular animals in the National Relic exhibition space

A selection of dreamy animal paintings by illustrator Eszter Nagy has been exhibited in our Library. The exhibition will be open until July 26, 2018.

At least 100 years of protection were given to János Arany's manuscripts

János Arany’s most precious manuscripts and other documents arrived in National Széchényi Library from Nagyszalonta-based János Arany Memorial Museum in February 2018, so as to be restored by experts.

Theatrical families, theatrical dynasties – exhibition

There have been several famous Hungarian acting families and acting dynasties, several members of which became well-known, and whose names still sound good today. The best-known of them, the Lendvay, Egressy, Vízváry, Márkus and Latabár acting families will be highlighted by presenting their history and family trees, with the help of period graphics and photographs.

Treasures were exchanged in National Széchényi Library

Two unique books returned to their worthy place on June 11, 2018. One of them is a work by Kelemen Mikes, that had been saved from fire during the Hungarian Revolution of 1956, and which is now returned from the United States. The other one is a long forgotten publication, emerging after several decades and rightfully belonging to the Franciscans of Buda.

Arkivum – Library professional presentation

In cooperation with other libraries, the Hungarian national library is currently working on the renewal of its entire IT infrastructure and library system. NSZL makes an effort to get acquainted with the latest international trends and the already existing best practices. On June 25, 2018, Arkivum will present its software designed to serve long-term stock preservation.
