National Széchényi Library is looking forward to its 17th Scientific Session to be held in the Ceremonial Hall of the Library on November 24 and 25, 2016. Plenary lectures will be delivered by excellent guest speakers Ádám Nádasdy, László Somfai and György Eisemann.

“Bestiarium Zircense takes up the last sixteen pages of a bulky medieval book. Its illustrated manuscript pages are full of lions, sirens, doves, snakes – primates, birds, reptiles – drawings of real and imaginary creatures … which bring back the days of the book culture of an ancient world…” – The facsimile edition will be presented in Veszprém on November 15, 2016.

On November 7, 2016, a delegation of leaders of the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan paid a professional visit to National Széchényi Library.

Film screening and book presentation entitled Patria Nostra will be held in NSZL at 5 p.m. on November 17, 2016. Film and monograph entitled Patria Nostra by Béla Nóvé relate the fate of some 500 Hungarian boys who, as teenagers, left for the West in 1956 and joined the French Foreign Legion.

On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution of 1956, National Széchényi Library was granted the award of Honor Cross by the local government of Józsefváros.
