Welcome to our English-language site!

[1] National Széchényi Library (NSZL), the national library of Hungary proudly presents its new, English-language site which, as of today, is also available in a version optimized for mobile phones and other mobile devices. All the inner pages of the Hungarian site have been translated which can be relevant and interesting for our virtual visitors from beyond the borders of Hungary. From now on, our international readers and users can easily access the latest news about current events, services and exhibitions of NSZL.

Arranged under the main menu points, the entire content of the site is available.

• About us will show you major documents related to the Library, description of the history of National Széchényi Library and reports on our current projects and ongoing research work.
• Information for visitors informs you about the opening hours of NSZL, how to approach the Library and also how to get by within the building.
• Collections menu point describes the types of documents NSZL collects. You can find information about our Reading Rooms, where you can do research in various NSZL collections, under menu point Services.
• Catalogues, databases menu point presents NSZL’s own catalogues and databases as well as major catalogues and databases of Hungary.
• Services section includes services provided by the Library for readers, publishing houses and for those who are interested in renting space for special events. Services, highly popular among our readers, include document preparation [2] and copying service [3].
• Digital library section is about NSZL’s collections which can be accessed online (e.g. image collections or journals and works of art readable online). Also, this is where you find NSZL’s thematic sites.
• What's on? This menu point will provide you with news about NSZL and the description of our exhibitions.

Some of the major characteristics of our site are as follows:

Using the search box in the heading, you can directly search in NSZL’s central catalogue.  In the small search field on the right side, you can search on our site, and using buttons above the search field, you can search on the following fields:

• LIS – Library and Information Science
• NBH – National Bibliography of Hungary
• EHM –  joint search button for the three databases: EPA – Electronic Periodicals Archive & Database, HUMANUS – Database of Studies and Articles on the Humanities and MATARKA – Searchable database of the contents of Hungarian periodicals,
• NPD – National Periodical Database

In the right column of the homepage, the latest images of our FLICKR image sharing page can be seen. Under them, you can have a look at useful links and references to social hubs.
