On 29 March 2023, the Association of Hungarian Librarians (MKE) and the Institute of Library and Information Science of the Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) held a conference entitled Advanced Competencies for Users and Librarians. Snapshots of Librarian Education and Library Practice.

The guest of honour was Barbara Lison, President of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA). Among the topics covered were sustainability; social responsibility; digital transformation; artificial intelligence; diversity, equal treatment, inclusion and accessibility; and the role of libraries in community and humanitarian action.
The national library was represented by Judit Gerencsér, Deputy Director General of NSZL and Secretary General of the Association of Hungarian Librarians (MKE).
