The Strained Will of Rescue. Aladár Kuncz Memorial Conference

This volume guides the reader to different segments of Aladár Kuncz's oeuvre. The memorial conference, which provides the basis for the studies, is not a cult tribute, but aims to present the Kuncz philology and recent research findings. While treating the diverse oeuvre perhaps in a more nuanced way than before, the volume encourages collective thinking and meaningful debate in the spirit of the summoned author. Imre Lakatos noted of Kuncz’s character and person that ‘he expressed averseness against those limited by their own worldviews [...] he was not willing to yoke his sober critique because of them. However, he could be amazingly understanding towards opposing opinions, as well’. We believe that in the awareness of this openness, critical rigor, humility and professional erudition, we can pay tribute worthily to the work of Aladár Kuncz.
