On 27 March 2023, the two institutions signed a cooperation agreement in Esztergom, in the Mihály Babits Memorial House of the Hungarian National Museum, in connection with the joint processing of Babits sources preserved in the NSZL Manuscript Collection.
Mihály Babits, poet, writer, an outstanding figure in Hungarian literature of the 20th century, bought his summer house in Esztergom in 1924, where he lived from spring to autumn for almost two decades. The recently renovated holiday home is an unparalleled monument to the poet's life and the birthplace of many of his works.
The document was signed on behalf of the Hungarian National Museum by Director General László L. Simon, and by Dávid Rózsa, Director General of the NSZL. The event was attended by Balázs Steindl, Deputy Mayor of Esztergom.
The parties have concluded an agreement to upgrade the previous informal cooperation to an institutional level, within the framework of which they will cooperate professionally in the joint processing of Babits sources preserved in the Manuscript Collection of the NSZL. This initiative will also strengthen the professional cooperation between the researchers of the two institutions.
