V4 Cultural Conference

Between 1st July 2021 and 30th June 2022 Hungary fulfills the Presidency of the Visegrad Group (V4). On this occasion, the Secretariat of the Minister of State for Culture of the Ministry of Human Capacities organizes a large-scale international conference on 1 and 2 December in order to overview the best practices of cultural institutions during the pandemic and their future opportunities, considering the whole cultural sector. Hungary wants to strengthen the cultural relations of the V4 nations and raise awareness of their achievements, as well as to create a platform where representatives of the cultural sector can share their experiences. 

Both days of the programme based on a plenary session and sections of the nine disciplines of the cultural sector (museum, theatre/circus arts, music, dance, literature, community culture/tradition, library, archive and a section for the situation of contemporary arts and galleries). 

The four main main topics of the conference: 

  • Impacts of culture on education 
  • Digital appearance
  • Changes in working (organisational) structures and their long-term consequences 
  • Long-term changes of supporting systems 

On 1 December, Tonia Arahova, the future President of IFLA, will give the keynote speech, while Judit Gerencsér, Deputy Director General of the National Széchényi Library and Andor Nagy, member of the Research and Analytical Department will represent our institution with their presentations.

The content of the presentations and discussions will be published both in English and Hungarian, and the full programme of the three days will be made available online in podcasts and playlists, enabling European-level publicity.
