A volume of literary criticism authored by our colleague Beatrix Visy will be presented in Kelet Kult – Irodalmi & Science Café on January 17, 2018. The event will start at 6 p.m.; the venue is located at 29 Bartók Béla Street, Budapest.

The bookshop of National Széchényi Library will be closed between December 23, 2017 and January 4, 2018. After the winter holidays, our bookshop will be open to visitors as of 12 a.m. on Friday January 5, 2018. Thank you for your understanding.

In cooperation with other libraries, the Hungarian national library is currently working on the renewal of its complete IT infrastructure and on the renewal of the library systems. Related to that, NSZL makes efforts to get acquainted with international trends and with the already existing best practices and solutions.

Library Silence in Advent

We are looking forward to seeing all those who wish to have a quiet time at our Advent morning for families, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on December 9, 2017. The event entitled Library Silence in Advent will offer various programs for families including making handicraft ornaments and paperwork, old Christmas postcards, and a play session called Our János Arany exhibition. Let us spend some hours of waiting for Christmas together in National Széchényi Library!

Altered opening hours on November 29!

Dear Visitors,

On Wednesday, November 29, 2017, our Library building will open at 1 p.m., due to traffic restrictions in Budapest. (NSZL will close as usual, at 8 p.m., with the exception of the Special Collections which will close at 5 p.m.)
