We would like to inform our readers that on Thursday, 11 April 2024, the website and catalogues of the National Library of Foreign Literature will be temporarily unavailable due to IT maintenance. We kindly ask for your patience and understanding!

On 13 March 2024, Judit Gerencsér, Deputy Director General, and Zoltán Lewalt-Jezierski, Head of Cabinet, welcomed a three-member delegation from the Embassy of the People's Republic of China to our institution.

The National Library of Foreign Literature (OIK) is hosting a thematic Tolkien open day on 6 April. (The programme of the Open Day can be found here.)

The reading room and open shelf rooms of the National Library of Foreign Literature will be closed from 2 November 2023 until the end of April 2024, but our lending services will be available at the registration desk during the following times:

• Monday–Tuesday, Thursday–Friday: 9.30–15.30
• Wednesday: 12.30–19.30

Please note that the first 24/7 book return and lending machine in Budapest is located in the lobby of the National Library of Foreign Literature is operating during the irregular opening hours.
